                                                                                            CHARITY
There are currently 56,000 registered charities in Australia. Giving Back Australia are proudly part of the growing statistics. A charity is a registered and recognised organisation by the Government of which is not for profit and its purposes is for the public benefit. This means that all money raised must go towards the operation and programs that the charity offers to the public.

There are numerous different types of charities that range from, animals, mental health, education, medical research, art, political parties etc. There is a cause that you may be passionate about and are able to give back to that cause. You can find further information by simply doing a google search.

There is no law that outlines registered charities cannot charge an administration service charge in order to deliver charitable programs. However, at Giving Back Australia we have a ZERO administration policy. What this means to all our donors is that 100% OF ALL PROCEEDS, goes towards the program of your choice and you have complete control over your donation. With this being said, it cost money in order to have a team in place to be able to service the public with their programs, and this is why some charities who raise money only give a certain percentage of donations towards their programs. You can find out further information on a charities financial governance by visiting the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) website. The benefit of having the ACNC website available to the public, is this allows for donors to feel secure on who they are donating too.

Often people are under the belief: CHARITY = FREE. And although most programs and services offered within charity organisations can be FREE in some cases this is not feasible. As charities have operational costs such as rent, electricity, software, uniform etc, charities often seek the assistance of professionals to provide their expertise free of charge and request for clients to make a small contribution in order to assist with operational costs.

Services provided from Charities are with the best intention on helping those who are vulnerable, struggling and are in hardship. A perfect example of this is COVID19. Charities were inundated by the Australian community who were affected by COVID19. Majority of services provided to the Australian public were due to COVID19. With this being said, businesses, charities and the general public still haven’t been able to recover from the pandemic, which has caused a declination in donations.

During this period, numerous charities were requesting assistance from the Australian Taxation Office to receive Jobkeeper payments for their employees. Whilst, many bigger charities were not affected, mostly small charities took the biggest financial hit during the pandemic. These smaller charities had to divert their operating costs and minimise services just so that they could continue their charitable work.

It is essential that Australian charities rely on the generosity of businesses and the general community to keep these charities afloat.
